This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a strategic partner and operational support for the CTO.
• Oversee the operational rhythm of the technology organization, encompassing staff meetings, quarterly planning, budget cycles, and OKR tracking.
• Convert strategic priorities into actionable execution plans and ensure their implementation.
• Provide technical guidance on architectural choices, platform investments, vendor assessments, security posture, compliance, and technical debt.
• Create materials for the board, executive briefings, technology updates, and narratives that link technology investments to business and clinical value.
• Represent the CTO in meetings, critical decisions, board presentations, and enterprise planning in their absence.
• Manage cross-functional coordination and dependencies with Finance, HR, Legal, Product, and Clinical Operations.
• Temporarily lead engineering or IT teams during transitions, leaves, or recruitment gaps.
• Maintain discipline in the technology budget, vendor negotiations, contract renewals, procurement, and cost optimization.
• Direct workforce planning, hiring strategies, organizational design, performance evaluations, promotion cycles, and career development pathways.
• Collaborate on HIPAA, data privacy, security, risk, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Spearhead significant cross-functional technology projects from initiation to completion.
• Manage sensitive personnel, vendor, and executive issues with confidentiality.
• Guide senior engineers and managers, fostering the development of future technical leaders.
• Provide counsel to the CTO on organizational, technical, political, and business matters, synthesizing information for prompt decision-making.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in technology roles.
• Minimum of 3–5 years in a chief of staff, director, or deputy CTO position.
• Strong technical foundation in software engineering, infrastructure, or architecture.
• Experience in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and large-scale cross-functional programs.
• Proven track record in building or scaling organizational processes, including performance management, hiring, and career development frameworks.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience in preparing materials for executive and board-level presentations.
• Background in collaborating with security, compliance, or risk functions, preferably in a regulated industry like healthcare.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of modern software delivery practices and enterprise architecture principles.
• Capacity to operate with considerable autonomy, discretion, and sound judgment on sensitive issues.
• Experience working directly with C-suite executives and boards.
• Extensive expertise in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
• An advanced degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; an MBA is a plus.
