This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct comprehensive audits and validation testing on mobile devices.
• Document detailed findings to outline identified issues and suggest potential solutions and best practices for addressing accessibility violations.
• Implement software fixes and/or integrate additional accessibility features within the target software source code.
• Create and present informative and high-quality outreach/educational presentations.
• Design and deliver training sessions on topics related to accessibility.
• A B.A. or B.S. degree in computer science, information technology, human-computer interaction, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with, and ability to test against, Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards for IT software and hardware.
• Experience in testing cell phone hardware.
• We are specifically seeking an engineer with expertise in the following IT Accessibility Requirement from WCAG 2.1 AA: Section 1194.23 Telecommunications Products.
• Specifically, “1194.23 (i) Interference to hearing technologies (including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening devices) must be minimized to the lowest possible level that enables users of hearing technologies to utilize the telecommunications product.”
• Knowledge of ANSI standard C63.19, "American National Standard for Methods of Measurement of Compatibility between Wireless Communications Devices and Hearing Aids.”
• Proficiency in using appropriate testing equipment to assess and determine Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) Ratings (such as M3, T4).
• Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail for extensive documentation; strong verbal communication skills for training and development purposes.
• Experience collaborating effectively with multiple clients or project teams simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
• Possession of relevant certifications, such as: DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies "CPACC", and IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Credential.
