This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Provide daily oversight and assistance to patent and trademark paralegals across the firm.
• Ensure the delivery of timely, high-quality work products and excellent client service.
• Manage and adjust paralegal workload based on their skills, capacity, and urgency of tasks.
• Evaluate performance and set objective goals.
• Advise on policies and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director of IP Operations on various projects and initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of IP paralegals.
• Foster ongoing education and skill development.
• Provide opportunities for training.
• Ensure adherence to ethical, procedural, and firm standards.
• Monitor the work output of patent and trademark paralegals.
• Manage complex workflows and facilitate cross-office collaboration.
• Track overtime usage for effective budget management.
• Encourage positive change and proactively address challenges.
• Handle time and attendance, payroll approvals, and expense reimbursements.
• Conduct semi-annual performance reviews with goal-setting discussions.
• Offer employee relations support in partnership with IP Leadership and Human Resources.
• Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for patent and trademark paralegals.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department is required.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role overseeing staff is necessary.
• A Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred.
• Paralegal certification is also preferred.
• Expertise in the rules and procedures of various areas of intellectual property, including patent, trademark, and copyright, is required.
• Capability to supervise a team of over 20 paralegals.
• Strong general management and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Robust organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to effectively engage with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Professional demeanor, discretion, and adaptability.
