This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Conducts financial and operational audits of assets managed by Greystar to ensure adherence to financial and operational policies, governance, and internal controls, as well as to identify and address instances of fraud or misconduct.
• Prepares documentation of audit findings and communicates these to real estate leaders, recommending actions to rectify issues and mitigate risks.
• Investigates potential or suspected fraud or non-compliance and collaborates with relevant business leaders to implement suitable resolutions.
• Plans and executes internal financial and operational audits of Greystar-managed communities to ensure compliance with governance and internal controls, completing detailed analyses and reports that convey audit findings and recommendations for addressing identified concerns.
• Contributes to the development of documentation for internal audit processes and procedures, as well as other tools and practices to guarantee objective and thorough audits and investigations, reviewing audit results to propose improvements to processes, tools, practices, and documentation.
• Carries out assigned investigations into alleged non-compliance, misconduct, and fraud situations, documenting and communicating findings and recommendations for addressing non-compliance, and following up to ensure implementation of appropriate actions.
• Conducts training and education for management on fraud detection, prevention, and risk mitigation, serving as a point of contact and consultant for real estate leadership to achieve full compliance with operational and financial policies and procedures.
• Accesses and monitors the technologies, systems, and other means utilized by team members for reporting potential fraud and misconduct, conducting investigations as necessary and collaborating with business leaders to develop and implement corrective actions for non-compliance.
• Coordinates and communicates with internal business groups and departments as needed to fulfill internal audit assignments, assisting in updating or adding policies, procedures, and practices as required.
• Generates and analyzes audit reports and findings to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing financial practices and reducing risk, working alongside real estate and other business leaders to implement strategies and programs that improve operating results.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, objective, and compelling reports, summaries, analyses, and other business documents for team members across various positions and levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, property management software utilized by Greystar, and database management programs, as well as other technologies used for financial transactions and reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial management and accounting practices within the property management sector, including knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
• Familiarity with SOX and SEC reporting requirements is preferred.
• Ability to uphold confidentiality of information and findings, establish credibility with key business leaders and real estate operators, and demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and discretion in interactions with others.
• Excellent research skills with the ability to maintain objectivity when conducting audits and reviewing audit findings, demonstrating keen attention to detail and the ability to analyze situations for root causes.
• Academic credentials in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience; CPA and/or Certified Internal Auditor designation is preferred.
