This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop gameplay and engine systems for a new, original game utilizing Unreal Engine 5.
• Design and implement player-centric systems such as movement, traversal, interactions, and progression using C++ and Blueprints.
• Create modular, data-driven gameplay systems that allow for rapid iteration across multiple platforms.
• Work in collaboration with design, animation, and audio teams to prototype mechanics, adjust gameplay feel, and enhance experiences through playtesting.
• Analyze and optimize gameplay systems to adhere to performance and memory requirements.
• Contribute to system stability by conducting thorough testing and debugging.
• Share best practices in gameplay engineering through code reviews and informal mentorship of junior engineers.
• Keep up-to-date with UE5 subsystems such as GAS, MassEntity, and Chaos.
• Suggest tooling and workflow enhancements while facilitating internal knowledge sharing.
• Over 3 years of professional experience with C++ in Unreal Engine 4 or 5, specializing in gameplay systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a college diploma in software engineering, game programming, or a closely related discipline.
• At least one commercially released game showcasing the candidate’s gameplay contributions.
• A strong passion for prototyping, refining, and ensuring precise player control and feedback loops.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Perforce, Git, or similar.
• Familiarity with contemporary profiling and debugging tools.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and residency within the country.
• Availability to overlap with Pacific time zone is required.
