Intermediate Security Engineer, Security Incident Response Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Oversee security incident response in a global 24/7 rotation, managing incidents from initial detection to containment and recovery.

• Develop and maintain detailed incident response documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.

• Perform post-incident evaluations through root cause analysis and lessons-learned sessions.

• Design and establish automated security processes to enhance operational efficiency and minimize manual interventions.

• Identify security vulnerabilities and implement advanced detection and response mechanisms.

• Collaborate with various GitLab teams to enhance security capabilities and execute technical infrastructure projects.

• Monitor threats, assess potential incidents, and coordinate response activities across teams.

• Contribute to the development of security tooling and automation to bolster detection and response capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven ability to independently learn and lead incident response processes.

• Proficient in SIEM/security logging tools.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS).

• Skills in Python programming or a strong willingness to acquire them.

• A genuine enthusiasm for technical documentation.

• A proactive stance towards identifying and investigating security threats.

• Interest in performing forensic analysis on compromised hosts.

• Experience or a strong eagerness to learn about cloud-based security investigations.

• Capacity to work scheduled shifts in a 24/7/365 security coverage rotation.

• Full-time hours condensed into four longer workdays.

• Shifts are scheduled from Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday.
