Intermediate Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee backend features and enhancements from the initial problem identification to shipping and post-production monitoring.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Frontend, Infrastructure, and Security teams within a designated product area.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend functionalities with minimal supervision using Ruby/Rails, Go, or other contemporary programming languages.

• Produce maintainable, secure, observable, and high-performance code.

• Design and sustain APIs, background tasks, integrations, bounded services, data models, migrations, indexes, and query behaviors.

• Enhance unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end automated test coverage.

• Evaluate code for accuracy, maintainability, security, performance, and operational risks.

• Investigate any build, test, deployment, and runtime issues.

• Recognize technical debt and suggest feasible enhancements.

• Participate in on-call duties or operational support as needed by the team.

• Effectively utilize and assess AI tools in daily engineering tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing and delivering production-level backend applications.

• Strong foundational skills in programming, API design, databases, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

• Proficiency in Ruby/Rails, Go, or any other modern backend programming language.

• Capability to independently take a feature from initial clarification through to delivery and follow-up.

• Sound decision-making skills regarding security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and operational risks.

• Knowledge of modular backend architectures and the implications of coupling.

• Excellent written communication skills and effective collaboration in a remote, asynchronous setting.

• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools, including the ability to review and rectify generated code.

• Must be a resident of Poland or an EU resident applicable to the specified country or countries.
