Intermediate Backend Engineer – Analytics Instrumentation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain a cohesive data collection platform utilizing Golang, Kubernetes, ClickHouse, and NATS, with success evaluated through reliability, performance, and adoption among GitLab teams.

• Enhance the emission, transit, and quality of instrumentation data throughout the system, with success assessed by data quality, data integrity, and accuracy in usage billing.

• Provide support for usage billing and instrumentation systems during business hours, with success gauged by prompt incident resolution and dependable service restoration.

• Collaborate across the organization with research and development teams, as well as the enterprise data organization, to deliver unified solutions, with success measured by adoption among various stakeholders.

• Participate in technical decision-making that balances usability for product teams with reliability and accuracy for data consumers, with success determined by platform usability and trusted downstream data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience working with platform or infrastructure systems in live production environments.

• Strong proficiency in the Go programming language, along with experience in building and maintaining production services.

• Background in backend development, with the capability to contribute to scalable and reliable systems serving both internal and external customers.

• Knowledge of infrastructure considerations, including system reliability, performance at scale, data quality, and observability.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with product teams, data consumers, and other internal stakeholders across different team boundaries.

• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and practices in open source development.
