This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Conduct thorough workflow analyses to create specifications for system-to-system interfaces and legacy data conversion.
• Determine the necessary hardware and software resources needed for interface implementation and Epic database data conversions.
• Examine specifications, prioritize interface tasks, and provide training to customers and hospital personnel on new or updated systems.
• Create and update interface design documentation while instructing interface developers.
• Execute code evaluations and convert interface specifications into operational interface data flows.
• Utilize Epic Bridges and Rhapsody Interface Engine for data mapping and intricate filtering logic.
• Draft interface validation plans and oversee the testing and validation processes.
• Monitor UNIX and Windows systems, comprehend Epic CACHE database structures, and create file off-loading and reporting routines.
• Manage TCP/IP communication setup and keep system documentation up to date.
• Design and implement interfaces linking EPIC, state and federal systems, and OHSU ancillary information systems.
• Formulate project plans, track tasks and milestones, hold progress meetings, and communicate project status to management.
• Troubleshoot system issues, develop corrective strategies, and resolve interface-related problems using Bridges and Rhapsody.
• Oversee application fixes, upgrades, installations, data conversions, and validation plans across production and testing environments.
• Supervise ADT, order entry, results reporting, and billing interfaces.
• Provide technical support to ITG and clinical department staff while training operations and help desk personnel.
• Engage in a 24x7 support and on-call rotation for the Epic electronic medical record and related systems.
• Read and interpret C++ and JavaScript programming languages.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical discipline with eight years of relevant work experience; OR an associate’s degree with nine years of relevant experience; OR ten years of relevant work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of paid experience as an Application Engineer.
• Proficiency with Epic data structures and the Epic Clarity Application.
• Intermediate to expert-level programming skills in JavaScript and SQL.
• Familiarity with Orion Rhapsody Interface Engine or a comparable interface engine.
• Experience with UNIX systems and Rhapsody server file management.
• Knowledge in terminal emulation software, file transfer, and data conversions.
• Proficient in Cognos Framework Manager, Query Studio, and Report Studio.
• Capability to develop interfaces adhering to the HL7 standard.
• Understanding of distributed healthcare computer applications such as mainframes, HIS, LIS, RIS, pharmacy systems, registration, and scheduling.
• Ability to independently pursue problem resolution and meet customer requirements.
• Skilled in conducting critical quality analysis and testing of software applications, including beta testing.
• Capacity to manage multiple complex assignments and adhere to deadlines.
• Ability to assess and diagnose system issues with users.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office in a PC environment.
• Familiarity with hospital and/or clinic operations and patient care processes.
• Preferred: Healthcare HL7 interface training/certification.
• Preferred: Experience and understanding of healthcare system software, HL7, TCP/IP, and technical application support.
• Preferred: Two years of experience in Healthcare Information Systems.
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare systems analysis and design.
• Preferred: Database experience with Oracle, MS SQL, MS Access, Unify, or similar databases.
• Preferred: Experience in developing interface specifications and drafting validation plans.
• Preferred: Understanding of patient registration, patient accounts, and coverages.
• Preferred: Knowledge of project coordination and management.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Epic Bridges, EpicCare Ambulatory, Epic Scheduling, Epic Billing, and Epic Registration.
• Preferred: Experience with interface processes or engine applications such as HL7, OpenLink, Cloverleaf, or eGate.
• Preferred: Knowledge of programming languages such as Visual Basic.
• Preferred: Certification in Epic Bridges.
