This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop and sustain integrations with Epic, Cerner, and other prominent EHR platforms utilizing FHIR, HL7, and vendor-specific APIs.
• Take ownership of the integration process from start to finish: including scoping, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve integration challenges in live clinical environments.
• Collaborate with hospital IT departments and EHR vendors to facilitate new integration deployments.
• Contribute to product features across Avo's wider platform.
• Work alongside product, design, and clinical stakeholders.
• Create unit and integration tests.
• Actively identify and address bugs, performance challenges, and edge cases in integration data flows.
• Maintain security and compliance standards.
• Participate in technical discussions, RFC processes, and sprint planning.
• Assist in documenting integration patterns and onboarding other engineers to EHR tools.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript (React) or Python (Django).
• Strong grasp of REST APIs, data modeling, and systems that manage sensitive, high-reliability data.
• Excellent written communication skills – we prioritize a written-first culture.

• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with both React/TypeScript and Python/Django stacks (strongly preferred).
• Previous experience with EHR integrations (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent) using FHIR, HL7, or vendor-specific APIs (nice-to-have).
