Integration Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and execution of enterprise integration architecture that supports VA modernization initiatives.

• Formulate integration strategies that bridge legacy VistA/MUMPS systems with contemporary cloud-based and enterprise applications.

• Thoroughly assess AI-generated interface maps, dependency diagrams, data flow analyses, and business rule extractions for precision and completeness against actual VistA data structures and integration patterns, identifying any discrepancies or inaccuracies before they are utilized in integration design.

• Design APIs, middleware, messaging, and data exchange solutions for enterprise healthcare systems.

• Aid interoperability initiatives by employing healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, and RESTful APIs.

• Create scalable integration frameworks that accommodate both real-time and batch processing needs.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application development, data, and DevSecOps teams to guarantee smooth system integration.

• Establish integration patterns, standards, governance models, and best practices across the organization.

• Assist in migration and modernization projects involving legacy healthcare applications and enterprise data platforms.

• Assess and recommend middleware, API management, and integration platform technologies.

• Ensure that integration solutions comply with federal cybersecurity, Zero Trust, and regulatory requirements.

• Engage in technical architecture reviews, modernization planning meetings, and engineering evaluations.

• Produce technical documentation, including interface control documents (ICDs), architecture diagrams, integration specifications, and implementation plans.

• Resolve complex integration challenges and provide technical guidance throughout the system lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in enterprise integration engineering or architecture.

• Experience supporting extensive federal healthcare or enterprise modernization initiatives.

• Proven ability to critically assess AI-generated technical outputs—including interface specifications, data mappings, and dependency analyses—for accuracy, completeness, and correctness concerning enterprise integration requirements, and to identify and rectify errors prior to those outputs influencing design decisions.

• Practical experience with VistA or MUMPS-based interfaces, including firsthand knowledge of data origination, structure, and flow within VistA environments.

• Extensive experience with API design, middleware technologies, and enterprise integration frameworks.

• Proficient in implementing integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and messaging technologies.

• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, CDA, and related frameworks.

• Experience in integrating legacy systems with modern cloud and enterprise platforms.

• Knowledge of cloud integration architectures in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.

• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance within federal environments.

• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
