This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Manage liability and property claims within the assigned authority under close supervision.
• Address coverage and liability matters in accordance with relevant state insurance laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Investigate and adjudicate claims while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Confirm coverage, establish and maintain reserves, obtain recorded statements, and draft/process correspondence, reports, and records.
• Gather additional information to assess liability.
• Document claim files and assist in claim processing with other departments.
• Engage outside experts as needed to support investigations and potential recoveries.
• Establish communication with all parties involved in claims.
• Assess and negotiate claims, identify subrogation opportunities, and initiate necessary actions.
• Organize and issue settlement payments using approved methods, or decline payments within designated authority.
• Address inquiries from policyholders, agents, insurance carriers, claimants, assigned experts, and other stakeholders.
• Respond to intercompany arbitration applications with supervisor guidance and submit contentions and supporting documents.
• Conduct research and participate in industry-related and other training programs to remain updated on policy changes, interpretations, and legislation.
• Provide assistance for property claims during periods of high volume.
• A high school diploma or GED along with two years of relevant claims handling or customer service experience, or an equivalent educational background is required.
• Appropriate state licensing must be obtained within 45 days of employment for external candidates and within 90 days for internal candidates.
• Candidates located near the Raleigh Branch office are preferred and will work remotely.
• Weekend evening shifts and/or Saturday shifts may be required based on business and service level needs.
• Must have access to internet service with a minimum bandwidth of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload for remote work.
• Familiarity with liability laws for each state is essential.
• Understanding of motor vehicle codes is required.
• Knowledge of no-fault/medical management/FPB laws for each state, including the ability to recognize bodily injury claims.
• A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred.
• Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) courses is preferred.
• Proficiency in manual keying/data entry/computer usage is necessary.
• Must be capable of occasional lifting/moving up to 20 lbs, 20–50 lbs, and over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment.
• Rarely required to climb or access heights.
• Driving is not a requirement.
