Inpatient Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Function as the lead coder for the Inpatient Coding Supervisor.

• Assist the Inpatient Coding Supervisor with daily coding tasks.

• Oversee productivity levels.

• Help with scheduling duties.

• Perform coding edits and charge reviews.

• Address and resolve failed claims and follow-up issues.

• Offer training and educational support.

• Engage in research activities.

• Ensure that coding adheres to regulatory and compliance standards.

• Serve as the main trainer and mentor for newly hired coders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma is required.

• Previous coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnoses/procedure coding and HCPCS/CPT procedure coding within an acute care inpatient, outpatient hospital, or professional services environment.

• Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding classification systems in an acute care/hospital or professional services context.

• RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, or CIRCC certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

• Frequent repetitive motion involving approximately 25% keyboard use and 75% mouse use for data entry tasks.

• Preferred: An Associate's degree from an accredited Health Information Technology program or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Health Information Management program.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the 3M encoder and the Epic system.
