Inpatient Audit Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct inpatient facility coding audits in accordance with the defined scope for onboarding, focused reviews, service level agreements, and other evaluations.

• Assign the correct codes and related coding elements utilizing MS DRG or APR DRGs.

• Offer clear justifications for any changes identified, referencing appropriate documentation.

• Stay updated on regulatory modifications.

• Organize and manage multiple cases simultaneously to ensure effective workflow and timely turnaround.

• Deliver coder education throughout the auditing process.

• Identify and present solutions to customer concerns.

• Address consulting and educational requirements related to coding quality, compliance evaluations, external payer reviews, coding instruction, and workflow operations assessments.

• Operate in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years experience in facility inpatient coding and/or auditing.

• CCS certification (mandatory).

• RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.

• Maintain a DRG accuracy rate of 95% or higher.

• Familiarity with software such as Epic, Cerner, and other widely used EMRs.

• Strong query writing abilities.

• Experience with spinal coding is an advantage.

• Commitment to customer service and professionalism.

• Excellent organizational, teamwork, and leadership capabilities.

• Compliance with the American Health Information Management Association’s code of ethics.
