Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the infrastructure that supports the bank in cloud environments and external data centers.

• Operate FoundationDB clusters and develop tools for seamless upgrades.

• Manage Kubernetes environments.

• Write infrastructure as code utilizing Pulumi and CDK.

• Operate the Bazel build farm.

• Take ownership of the deployment pipeline from Continuous Integration to production.

• Create replica clusters and implement multi-region failover capabilities.

• Conduct chaos engineering and test the system's response to failures.

• Oversee security access, CircleCI pipelines, DataDog integration, cloud expenditure, and resource usage.

• Develop self-hosted infrastructure for hybrid cloud deployments, minimizing dependence on a single vendor.

• Enhance the scalability of Kubernetes and the build farm.

• Establish PKI infrastructure and a global HTTP routing layer.

• Make decisions regarding infrastructure architecture.

• Maintain and enhance the reliability of production systems.

• Provide CI/CD, security access, monitoring integration, and secure deployment infrastructure for engineering teams.

• Proactively identify and address scaling, security, compliance, networking, and architectural challenges.

• Collaborate with backend teams to stress-test database and compute platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong systems experience in running container orchestration in a production environment.

• Proven experience in writing infrastructure as code.

• In-depth knowledge of IP networking sufficient for troubleshooting issues.

• Experience in building and managing production cloud environments.

• Familiarity with networking, identity management, and large-scale computing.

• Programming experience beyond just Bash scripting and YAML.

• Proficiency or experience in TypeScript, Python, Go, or functional programming languages.

• Comfort in small team settings with shifting priorities and a high degree of autonomy.

• Willingness to learn Clojure after joining the team.

• Openness to acquiring new programming languages and methodologies.

• Successful completion of background screening, including right-to-work verification, criminal record checks, credit history, social media review, and professional reference checks.

• Legal authorization to work in the UK.
