Infrastructure Engineer – AIX to Linux Migration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Assist in transitioning current IBM AIX environments to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

• Manage, configure, and troubleshoot both IBM AIX and Linux systems

• Strategize and carry out infrastructure and legacy enterprise application migration initiatives

• Evaluate existing AIX environments, their dependencies, and application requirements prior to migration

• Create detailed migration plans, procedures, and cutover strategies

• Conduct migration testing, post-migration validation, and address any troubleshooting needs

• Provide support for the deployment and management of Red Hat OpenShift as necessary

• Develop and sustain shell scripts to automate migration tasks and routine administrative functions

• Detect and resolve compatibility, performance, and configuration issues throughout the migration

• Document migration procedures, system configurations, and validation outcomes

• Collaborate with IT Operations and other technical teams to reduce downtime and facilitate a seamless migration

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with IBM AIX administration

• Hands-on experience in managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

• Background in legacy enterprise application and infrastructure migrations

• Knowledge of migration planning, cutover procedures, testing, and post-migration validation

• Experience in shell scripting and automation techniques

• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, system dependencies, and troubleshooting methods

• Capability to analyze existing environments and identify potential migration risks

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Conversational English proficiency at B2 level or above

• Availability to work within the US time zone

• Nice to have: Demonstrated experience in completing an end-to-end migration from IBM AIX to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

• Nice to have: Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift administration or deployment

• Nice to have: Experience in migrating business-critical enterprise applications from legacy platforms to Linux

• Nice to have: Knowledge of best practices for infrastructure modernization and migration

• Nice to have: Relevant certifications from Red Hat or IBM
