Infrastructure and Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Deliver Level 2/3 technical support and escalation for Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure.

• Oversee and provide support for Microsoft 365 services, which include Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra ID.

• Manage Azure resources such as virtual machines, networking, storage, and identity services.

• Maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy.

• Administer and support VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.

• Configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connectivity.

• Monitor the health of infrastructure, identify risks, and proactively address performance and availability challenges.

• Assist cybersecurity operations by responding to security incidents, implementing security best practices, and aiding in threat remediation.

• Conduct system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation across server and cloud environments.

• Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring effective testing and recovery readiness.

• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.

• Create and update technical documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.

• Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers to resolve infrastructure challenges.

• Offer mentoring and technical guidance to on-site ICT resources when necessary.

• Participate in after-hours support for critical incidents and planned maintenance activities.

• Contribute to infrastructure enhancement projects and technology initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in a Level 2/3 Infrastructure or Systems Engineer position.

• Strong background in administering Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.

• Practical experience managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.

• Solid understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.

• Experience supporting VMware and/or Hyper-V environments.

• Strong networking knowledge encompassing switching, routing, firewalls, and VPN technologies.

• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments that integrate on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, incident response, and security best practices.

• Experience managing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

• Proficient in PowerShell scripting to automate administrative and operational tasks.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex infrastructure environments.

• Strong communication abilities, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and provide dependable technical leadership as needed.

• A proactive approach with an emphasis on continuous improvement, documentation, and operational excellence.

• Microsoft certifications (such as Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or similar) are desirable.

• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, or other Microsoft security technologies is desirable.

• Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or multi-client environment is desirable.

• ITIL Foundation certification or experience working within ITIL service management practices is desirable.
