This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Act as the main technical liaison for vendor-suggested microreactor and advanced reactor designs.
• Cultivate a thorough understanding of the assigned systems.
• Deliver clear and actionable technical evaluations and suggestions to government leadership.
• Execute systems engineering and technical program management for First of a Kind (FOAK) reactor initiatives.
• Integrate designs and oversee requirements management.
• Perform safety assessments and evaluate technical risks.
• Supervise technical vendor operations.
• Navigate complex and unclear technical challenges from detection to resolution with minimal guidance.
• Collaborate with government entities, external subject-matter experts, reactor design firms, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Address technical challenges and regulate system interfaces.
• Monitor program progress and sustain program momentum.
• Assist in schedule management, risk assessment, technical performance tracking, and issue resolution.
• Facilitate travel to vendor locations, government sites, test venues, and program meetings.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
• Active Secret Clearance is preferred.
• Must be prepared to travel to vendor locations, government sites, test venues, and program meetings as necessary.
• Capability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility setting while managing multiple technical priorities with limited oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management, or a related technical discipline.
• Extensive professional experience in nuclear power systems, naval nuclear propulsion, advanced reactor programs, or similarly intricate high-reliability engineered systems.
• Proven experience in systems engineering and/or technical program management.
• Familiarity with requirements management, system integration, technical risk assessment, design evaluation, or related engineering functions.
• Experience in interfacing with, overseeing, or managing technical vendors linked to complex engineered systems, capital equipment, or technology development initiatives.
• Established ability to independently assume responsibility for complex, ambiguous tasks and drive them to completion with minimal supervision.
• Skill in analyzing intricate technical information and creating clear, concise evaluations, recommendations, briefings, and technical reports for senior government officials.
• Experience in coordinating with government entities, industry partners, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders to address technical issues and manage system interfaces.
• Capacity to support program management functions, including schedule management, risk assessment, technical performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
• A Master's degree in engineering, engineering management, nuclear engineering, or a related technical field is desired.
• Direct experience with microreactor or advanced reactor design, integration, testing, or safety analysis is preferred.
• Experience in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, including Nuclear Power School, submarine nuclear operations, or land-based prototype/training reactor operations is desired.
• Previous SETA, government technical support, or advisory experience, particularly in support of SCO, DARPA, or other rapid-capability organizations is desirable.
• Experience aiding in transportation or accident scenario analyses, NEPA-related activities, or nuclear regulatory and safety frameworks is preferred.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams, managing technical escalations, or implementing process and organizational enhancements is desired.
• Familiarity with power production, power management, AC/DC electrical systems, industrial HVAC, semiconductor capital equipment, complex product support, or other high-reliability industrial systems is preferred.
• Experience presenting complex technical programs to senior government, military, or industry leadership is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex engineering concepts into actionable recommendations are preferred.
