Information Systems Security Officer, ISSO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and oversee the security authorization stance of designated DoD systems

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and architecture teams to ensure secure system functionality

• Create, revise, and sustain System Security Plans (SSPs)

• Oversee POA&Ms from identification to remediation and closure

• Compile and present comprehensive Authorization to Operate (ATO) packages

• Implement continuous monitoring in line with program strategies and RMF standards

• Utilize eMASS to monitor RMF workflows, manage artifacts, and assist GRC governance processes

• Work in conjunction with ISSEs and SecOps teams to verify security control implementations

• Develop Security Assessment Plans (SAPs) and assist in the preparation and coordination of SARs

• Prepare supply chain risk management plans

• Collaborate with the Cybersecurity Architect on RMF strategic planning and lifecycle enhancements

• Progress into a senior GRC career path with organized opportunities for professional development

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret or TS clearance

• 3–5 years of RMF/ATO experience in DoD or federal settings

• Practical experience with eMASS

• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 and DoD RMF processes

• Proven ability to independently create SSPs and manage POA&Ms

• DoD 8140.03M DCWF Basic Tier — CEH

• DoD 8140 Interim Education Options

• Required to travel to Scott Airforce base quarterly

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, IT, or Software Engineering (preferred)

• DoD 8140.03M DCWF Intermediate Tier certification options (preferred)

• Experience with eMASSer or other RMF automation tools (preferred)

• Exposure to cloud-hosted or hybrid system authorization boundaries (preferred)

• Knowledge of the DoD RMF Knowledge Service (preferred)
