This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.
• **Position Overview:**
• We are looking for a proficient **Infectious Disease Physician** to become part of a **Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) / Community Clinic** located in **Zachary, LA**. This position entails offering clinical leadership, managing outpatient care, and ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations while providing exceptional patient care.
• **Key Responsibilities:**
• - Oversees and coordinates medical care at the outpatient clinic.
• - Acts as the clinical director and physician for the outpatient clinic.
• - Provides clinical oversight for the outpatient clinic team: nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, etc.
• - Engages in administrative decision-making, formulates policies, procedures, and guidelines aimed at ensuring the delivery of adequate, comprehensive care.
• - Communicates with medical staff regarding policies, standards, and specific patient issues.
• - Participates as a member of the organized medical staff, attends medical staff meetings, and ensures compliance with medical staff bylaws and regulations.
• - Involved in developing and implementing educational programs at the clinic for staff and the community.
• - Capable of evaluating medical services provided by the outpatient clinic and making appropriate recommendations.
• - Understands and ensures adherence to the clinic's policies and procedures regarding safety, infection control, hazardous materials, and waste.
• - Available for consultation for outpatient clinic staff.
• - Knowledgeable about the social, regulatory, political, and economic factors affecting patient care services.
• - Conducts all aspects of patient care in an environment that enhances patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical/healthcare errors.
• - Monitors and assesses the quality and appropriateness of medical services as part of the overall quality management program.
• - Provides medical leadership for research and development efforts in outpatient care.
• - Delivers direct patient medical care:
• - Conducts histories and physical examinations.
• - Makes diagnoses.
• - Treats a variety of disease processes and acute injuries.
• - Orders appropriate diagnostic tests and treatments.
• - Prescribes medications and regulated medical devices.
• - Offers preventive healthcare education to patients and the community.
• - Refers patients to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
• - Handles patient phone calls as required.
• - Provides clinical training to nurses and other staff.
• **Qualifications:**
• - **Education:** MD/DO degree with a specialization in Infectious Disease.
• - **Licensure:**
• - Active medical license in Louisiana.
• - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease.
• - Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration & Controlled Dangerous Substance License.
• - **Experience:** Previous experience in outpatient infectious disease care preferred.
• - **Technical Skills:**
• - Proficiency in EMR systems (preferred).
• - Basic computer literacy.
• - **Soft Skills:**
• - Exceptional communication skills (both written & verbal) in English.
• - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• - Multilingual abilities are a plus.
