This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate closely with Valard’s Indigenous Relations team, Project Management Team (PMT), Employee Services, and Procurement to advance Indigenous engagement goals, enhance workforce participation, facilitate community communications, and explore business opportunities.
• Establish and nurture strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, their leadership, and stakeholders, ensuring meaningful engagement through active feedback and continuous communication.
• Recognize, escalate, and assist in resolving issues, risks, or community concerns, working in collaboration with project leadership and internal teams as necessary.
• Stay informed about local and regional social, political, and economic factors that may influence the project and the approach to engagement.
• Prepare and disseminate community communications and notifications, project milestone updates/lookahead schedules (as suitable), and construction progress announcements.
• Create project information packages and community-facing materials for leadership, community members, businesses, and other stakeholders.
• Generate regular reports that track and summarize hiring activities, workforce hours, expenditures, and procurement efforts.
• Ensure that all communications, engagement initiatives, commitments, and issues are documented and monitored according to project specifications.
• Organize and engage in community events, open houses, career fairs, and other outreach activities to strengthen relationships and support workforce and business objectives.
• Facilitate workforce communications and address employee or community inquiries related to project employment and engagement.
• Assist in formulating engagement plans and promoting achievable Indigenous participation targets.
• Represent Valard in a professional manner within community settings and regarding project-related matters.
• Preferred post-secondary education in business administration, communications, Indigenous studies, public relations, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Indigenous relations, community engagement, stakeholder relations, or comparable positions.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with a larger project team.
• Strong understanding of Indigenous community and cultural considerations, including the significance of protocols and trust-building.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Power BI, along with strong general computer skills.
• A valid Driver's Licence with the ability to provide a clean Driver's Abstract.
• Experience in supporting construction, energy, utilities, infrastructure, or linear projects.
