
In-House Trial Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Manages legal tasks for assigned cases.
• Diligently follows up on cases referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department.
• Develops and maintains a documented strategy for case management in each assigned case, including a summary of intangible factors such as the judge, plaintiff attorney, and aggravating factors.
• Organizes and maintains document files that comprise pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.
• Prepares and submits timely status updates to claims handlers regarding all significant activities as they occur, no less frequently than every 60 days.
• Ensures all files are thoroughly documented and well-organized.
• Provides prompt and timely responses to all phone calls and correspondence.
• Utilizes and/or ensures the use of case management software for tracking notes, diary entries, calendar events, billing, etc., for cases assigned to Staff Counsel, in line with established Company operating protocols and legal and ethical standards.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a trial attorney.
• Experience in handling insurance defense work is preferred.
• Must be a member of the State Bar and maintain all requisite licensing and continuing education obligations.
