In-House Insurance Defense Attorney, P&C

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee all stages of pre-litigation and litigation processes related to insurance defense cases.

• Perform thorough fact-finding and expert investigation and analysis.

• Supervise the drafting of pleadings, formal discovery, motion practices, expert discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and trial proceedings.

• Provide legal counsel to the Company on issues and strategies pertaining to both litigated and non-litigated insurance defense cases.

• Meet expectations for client engagement, claims handling, internal communications, and strategic litigation management.

• Leverage technology and work collaboratively with support staff to enhance case management efficiency and productivity.

• Stay updated on changes in law, technology, local regulations, procedural standards, and trends in the legal and insurance sectors.

• Offer case valuation assessments and promptly update clients and claims teams on any valuation changes.

• Identify issues, gather data, establish facts, and draw accurate conclusions.

• Execute additional duties and projects as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from a recognized law school.

• Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in litigating insurance defense cases, either in-house or at an external law firm, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication.

• Strong quantitative, analytical, and inventive problem-solving abilities.
