This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Design and create large-scale mechanical systems for water infrastructure initiatives.
• Develop 3D models utilizing Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, or other mechanical design software for generating design drawings.
• Determine the sizing and selection of hoists, actuators, and related waterworks mechanical systems.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to guarantee structural integrity and mechanical efficiency.
• Review and approve engineering drawings and vendor submissions.
• Collaborate with Civil, Structural, and Electrical Engineers.
• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation.
• Assist in proposal development by contributing technical insights.
• Travel a few times each year for site visits and client meetings.
• Participate in an in-person Day 1 onboarding session at an AECOM office location.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program and over 6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience and/or education.
• Professional Engineering licensure in the United States or the capability to obtain licensure within two years.
• Preferred: 10+ years of mechanical engineering design experience related to water, infrastructure, or similar industrial mechanical equipment.
• Preferred: Experience with locks, dams, and other significant waterworks structures.
• Mechanical design expertise in gates, hoisting mechanisms, actuators, or large-scale mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with cranes or other lifting devices.
• Proficiency with hydraulic systems and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience with large pumps, pump stations, or pumping systems.
• Background in heavy steel fabrication, welding, construction, and/or large-scale mechanical engineering projects.
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, or other 3D design software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and analysis methodologies.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in hybrid work environments with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel a few times a year for site visits and meetings with clients.
