HVAC/Refrigeration Project Manager – Retail/Grocery Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct HVAC and refrigeration projects across multiple locations, which includes equipment installation, system retrofits, and maintenance initiatives within operational stores.

• Act as the main client-facing representative for all mechanical (HVAC/R) project scopes, cultivating robust relationships and ensuring stakeholder alignment.

• Serve as the subject matter expert in HVAC/Refrigeration, guaranteeing adherence to best practices, system efficiency, and compliance with regulations at all locations.

• Function as the owner's representative, facilitating communication among franchisees, general contractors, architects, and vendors.

• Track project progress to ensure that goals related to schedule, budget, quality, and safety are met.

• Review construction documents, scopes of work, and contractor bids.

• Oversee change orders, budget management, invoicing, and financial reporting.

• Lead the completion of punch lists and project closeout activities.

• Provide consistent project updates and engage in proactive risk management.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in construction project management, with a significant focus on HVAC and/or refrigeration systems.

• Documented experience in managing HVAC and refrigeration installation, replacement, or maintenance programs (mandatory).

• Familiarity with retail and/or grocery environments, particularly in active, operational stores.

• Experience in managing multi-site rollout or program-based construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration systems (including rack systems, cases, and walk-ins), along with controls/EMS.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to influence and establish trust.

• Proven capability to manage multiple projects at once in a dynamic environment.

• Proficient understanding of construction management platforms such as Procore, Smartsheet, Buildertrend, or comparable tools.
