This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ This role aims to further the mission of InterVarsity by fostering partnerships throughout the Fellowship and providing valuable HR services to Staff and Staff Directors that align with the organization's ministry objectives and values.
β’ The HR Generalist/Senior HR Generalist will act as an internal consultant and strategic partner for Staff Directors and staff on matters related to Human Resources.
β’ Serve as an internal consultant by proactively identifying and assessing HR-related ministry needs and recommending solutions for their implementation.
β’ Collaborate closely with leadership and staff to enhance work relationships, boost morale, and improve productivity and retention rates.
β’ Ensure adherence to all relevant federal and state employment laws and InterVarsity policies and procedures; assist in minimizing legal risks and collaborate with the Legal department as needed.
β’ Offer guidance on HR policies and provide interpretations for complex situations; work with staff and Staff Directors to address intricate employee relations challenges and conduct thorough, objective investigations as necessary.
β’ Provide consultation and coaching to Staff Directors regarding performance management, departmental restructuring, workforce planning, and exit interviews.
β’ Execute additional duties or complete other projects as assigned.
β’ Must annually affirm InterVarsity's Statement of Faith.
β’ A Bachelorβs degree or equivalent HR experience is required; PHR or SPHR certification is preferred.
β’ PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred for the Senior Generalist role.
β’ A minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience is required for the HR Generalist position.
β’ A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required for the Senior HR Generalist position.
β’ Ability to resolve moderately complex employee relations challenges (HR Generalist).
β’ Capability to resolve and provide guidance on complex employee relations issues (Senior Generalist).
β’ Proficient knowledge of various HR disciplines, including employee relations, compensation, HRIS, recruitment, diversity, performance management, benefits, etc.
β’ Familiarity with federal and state employment regulations.
β’ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
β’ Exceptional attention to detail.
β’ Demonstrates initiative and the ability to carry out projects with minimal oversight.
β’ Ability to cultivate strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve outcomes.
β’ Capacity to consult with Staff Directors across multiple locations.
β’ Proven ability to engage with staff at all levels.
β’ Effectively envision, design, and execute new strategies to tackle complex ministry challenges.
β’ Ability to juggle multiple conflicting priorities.
β’ Self-directed and motivated individual.
β’ Prior knowledge or experience with InterVarsity is preferred.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
β’ Demonstrated ability and commitment to thriving in a diverse team environment.

β’ Willingness to travel as needed, including participation in two five-day triennial conferences (Urbana β typically from December 27 to January 1; and Staff Conference β usually early January).
