This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create user-friendly, impactful, and visually consistent experiences for digital products that cater to VA programs and their stakeholders.
• Convert research insights, business needs, user requirements, and technical specifications into well-defined design concepts.
• Produce user flows, task flows, information architectures, navigation models, wireframes, interface designs, and interactive prototypes.
• Generate low- to high-fidelity designs for evaluation by stakeholders prior to development.
• Design interface elements, interaction patterns, layouts, forms, dashboards, workflows, and data-intensive experiences.
• Ensure uniform visual and interaction patterns across digital platforms.
• Contribute to the development of design systems, component libraries, UX standards, and reusable design assets.
• Prepare documentation for developers and collaborate with technical teams during the implementation phase.
• Conduct interviews with stakeholders, user interviews, workshops, usability studies, and HCD discovery activities.
• Analyze qualitative research to extract findings, themes, personas, user journeys, experience maps, design principles, and actionable recommendations.
• Formulate and test design hypotheses through prototypes and iterative user feedback.
• Lead usability testing sessions and convert findings into prioritized design enhancements.
• Implement Section 508, WCAG, and inclusive design standards.
• Assist in the development of Magnify Reports and provide research findings, personas, journey maps, visualizations, prototype concepts, user feedback, and design suggestions.
• Facilitate design sessions, co-design workshops, prototype evaluations, and usability testing sessions.
• Present design ideas and clarify design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with HCD researchers, technical designers, developers, analysts, product owners, healthcare subject matter experts, and program leadership.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies and integrate UX activities into iterative development cycles.
• Participate in LMI's HCD community of practice by sharing tools, templates, patterns, techniques, and insights gained.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human-Centered Design, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Psychology, or a related discipline.
• 5-7+ years of professional experience in UI/UX, product design, HCD, interaction design, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing digital products from initial concept through prototype to development handoff.
• Strong expertise in Figma or similar modern UI/UX design and prototyping tools.
• Demonstrated ability to create user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished interface designs.
• Comprehensive understanding of information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, usability, and user-centered design principles.
• Experience in conducting or engaging in user research and usability testing.
• Capability to translate research findings and intricate requirements into intuitive user experiences.
• Knowledgeable in Section 508, WCAG, accessibility, and inclusive design practices.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation abilities.
• Proficient in independently organizing and prioritizing design tasks across multiple projects.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• A portfolio showcasing UI/UX design, research-informed design decisions, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, design systems, or completed digital experiences.
• Experience designing for the federal government, healthcare, public sector, or enterprise settings.
• Previous involvement in supporting VA or VHA programs.
• Experience in designing dashboards, complex workflows, enterprise applications, or data-rich experiences.
• Experience in creating or contributing to design systems and reusable component libraries.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, Power BI, or Microsoft 365 environments.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Lean UX, Design Thinking, or iterative product development processes.
• Relevant certifications in UX, accessibility, HCD, or Agile methodologies.
