Hospice Veterinarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Deliver in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain and symptom management, and compassionate euthanasia services.

• Travel independently to scheduled appointments within the designated service area.

• Conduct physical examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other veterinary services.

• Inform families about quality-of-life choices, end-of-life care options, euthanasia, and aftercare.

• Keep precise veterinary medical records and clinical documentation.

• Engage in communication with pet families, veterinary staff, scheduling, operations, support, and referring veterinary teams.

• Safely handle, position, and assist with the movement of companion animals.

• Operate independently in the field utilizing sound medical judgment and dependability.

• Exhibit compassion, dignity, and respect in interactions with patients, families, colleagues, and veterinary partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), BVMS, or a comparable veterinary medical degree from an accredited or qualifying veterinary program.

• Must hold or be eligible to obtain an active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be rendered.

• Possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

• Capability to safely travel between scheduled in-home veterinary appointments.

• Comfortable working autonomously as a mobile veterinarian.

• Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism during pet hospice, quality-of-life, and end-of-life discussions.

• Availability for rotational weekend schedules.

• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with weights up to 100 pounds.

• Ability to fulfill physical and logistical requirements in diverse residential environments.

• Successful completion of necessary background and motor vehicle record checks after hiring and prior to the scheduled start date.
