High School Special Education Teacher – ACCESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Deliver designated course material in an online setting

• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process

• Concentrate on the individual needs of students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Collaborate actively with students and parents to promote student learning

• Complete compliance documentation necessary for supporting students with special needs

• Communicate with parents and associated service personnel to ensure proper therapies

• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-mandated special education documentation

• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP reviews

• Utilize resources and provide accommodations and modifications, such as assistive technology and accessible text

• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEP requirements

• Ensure inclusion and success of students in general education settings

• Collect data and work samples to assess progress toward IEP objectives

• Document communications with parents and student interventions

• Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment activities

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Maintain a grade book and uphold academic integrity

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, and notify administrators of performance issues

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Foster positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents

• Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting

• Travel for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or school requirements as necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• Florida 5-Year Professional Special Education certificate

• Florida Reading and ESOL Endorsements

• Residency in Florida

• Bachelor’s degree

• Active state teaching license

• Capability to pass the required background check

• Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week

• Capacity to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours

• Ability to collaborate with other educators to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data for instructional decisions

• Open to receiving regular coaching from administrators

• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure outstanding student outcomes

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time

• Experience with the specified age group (preferred)

• Experience assisting adults and children with technology (preferred)

• Experience teaching in an online or traditional classroom setting (preferred)

• Familiarity with an online learning platform (preferred)
