High School Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to students and families regarding academic matters, career planning, and graduation requirements;

• Stay informed about all high school graduation criteria, including specific requirements such as community service, and communicate this information to the High School Coordinator and principal;

• Assist students and parents in the selection of secondary school courses in alignment with state credit and graduation mandates as well as student interests and needs.

• Counsel students facing issues related to course drops and schedule changes, seeking necessary support while ensuring adherence to the school’s course selection and drop policies;

• Evaluate student transcripts and manage the entry of credits into the online transcript system;

• Follow established procedures to guarantee that Connections Academy transcripts are precise and current;

• Collaborate with administrative assistants to acquire school records from the student’s previous institution (if applicable) and appropriately forward student records;

• Implement programs designed for students and families addressing interpersonal adjustment concerns;

• Work alongside school teams to help families access available school and community resources;

• Engage in the creation of crisis prevention and management strategies for the school and serve as an integral member of the Student Support Team (SST);

• Coordinate a team of educators to identify students who may be considered “at risk” or “in crisis”;

• Valid Tennessee School Counselor certification

• Proficient in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

• Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written

• Highly organized and dependable

• Customer-oriented approach

• High degree of adaptability

• Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic environment

• Collaborative team player with established leadership capabilities

• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing activities (may involve some overnight travel)

• Availability to work occasional evening hours, as needed to assist families
