This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with clinical and operational stakeholders to collect, document, and validate both functional and non-functional system requirements.
• Conduct requirements analysis, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs through system specifications to acceptance criteria.
• Create comprehensive requirements documentation, user stories, use cases, and process models for clinical informatics applications.
• Perform information modeling tasks including data flow diagrams, entity-relationship models, and conceptual data schemas.
• Lead and engage in user acceptance testing (UAT), developing test scripts, tracking defects, and documenting test outcomes.
• Create and maintain documentation artifacts for systems that capture or standardize health information, clinical data, or life sciences data.
• Act as a liaison between clinical subject matter experts and technical development teams to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous enhancement of clinical informatics systems by assessing current processes and identifying gaps or inefficiencies.
• Aid in the creation of training materials, standard operating procedures, and user manuals for health IT systems.
• Participate in project status reviews, stakeholder meetings, and deliverable evaluations as required by the program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in health IT or informatics-related roles, with a minimum of 3 years in specialized experience as defined below.
• Specialized experience includes: requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, user acceptance testing, and the development/documentation of systems utilized for capturing or standardizing health information, clinical information, or data pertinent to therapeutic discovery, medical research, or life sciences.
• An additional 6 years of specialized experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
• Experience collaborating with the Veterans Health Administration or similar federal health agencies (CDC, CMS, DHA, HHS, etc.).
• Active security clearance or the capability to obtain one.
• Proven ability to elicit, document, and manage requirements for health information or clinical information systems.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools and methodologies (e.g., JIRA or similar).
• Knowledge of clinical data standards including HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, or comparable terminologies.
• Understanding of EHR systems, health information exchange (HIE) platforms, or clinical data repositories.
• Expertise in process modeling notations (e.g., BPMN, UML use case diagrams) and documentation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, precise, and complete technical documentation.
• Capability to work independently and under general supervision; prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
