This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Lead and expand a current team of three recruiters (two based in the US and one in the Philippines), establishing standards for recruiter performance, coaching, and accountability - this role focuses on team, technology, and talent development.
• Act as a strategic collaborator with the CHRO and senior leadership on talent strategy, workforce planning, and market insights - providing a proactive perspective on hiring trends, talent availability, and competitive positioning rather than waiting for headcount approvals.
• Implement an AI and automation-focused approach to recruiting infrastructure while ensuring a people-centric experience for candidates and hiring managers.
• Drive recruiting for Director+ positions by collaborating with internal recruiters and external partners. Set clear expectations, adhere to timelines, and ensure cost discipline - capable of conducting a search independently, assigning it to a team member, and credibly challenging or redirecting agency recommendations.
• Develop and enhance Backblaze's recruiting infrastructure - optimizing ATS, strategizing sourcing, analyzing pipelines, and ensuring rigorous intake processes - collaborating with HRBPs to execute headcount plans across all teams, including AI-adjacent and AI-native roles.
• Provide extensive US and global hiring expertise to a distributed team, effectively operating across US time zones from a LATAM base, with an understanding of cross-border hiring practices and EOR frameworks - and the credibility to influence hiring managers at all organizational levels.
• Take ownership of hiring effectiveness at Backblaze, being accountable for the quality of hires, funnel performance, and hiring outcomes; establish clear metrics and promote continuous improvement.
• Over 8 years of experience in recruiting, including leadership of high-performing teams.
• 3-5 years of experience in managing and developing recruiters in a fast-paced technology/SaaS environment.
• Comfortable with hands-on operations, including managing a focused requisition load.
• Experience in recruiting for technical roles (Engineering, Cloud, AI/ML).
• Proven experience hiring across the US, LATAM, and APAC, ideally within EOR and offshore settings.
• Profound understanding of AI-first recruiting technologies and experience integrating them into the core recruiting software suite to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Demonstrated success in building or scaling recruiting functions and improving hiring outcomes.
• Proven ability to take ownership of and enhance the quality of hire, not just time to fill.
• Strong experience utilizing data and funnel metrics to drive recruitment performance and informed decision-making.
• Experience leading Director+ and executive searches, both directly and through recruitment firms.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders on hiring strategies, leveling, and talent decisions.
• Experience in constructing structured, scalable recruiting processes (ATS, interviewer training, intake rigor).
