This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania, +1 more state.
• Develop and implement a long-term technology roadmap that systematically upgrades PracticeMatch's legacy platform, focusing on migrations and rewrites based on business value, risk, and continuity.
• Collaborate with product and business leadership to ensure engineering priorities are aligned with PracticeMatch's competitive strategy and customer outcomes.
• Create a practical, phased approach to system transformation — ensuring product stability and customer commitments while progressing towards a modern, maintainable architecture.
• Assess and suggest modern technology options (languages, frameworks, cloud infrastructure, data platforms) that prepare PracticeMatch for long-term scalability.
• Advocate for the responsible integration of agentic AI throughout the engineering lifecycle — from planning, design, and development to testing, deployment, and production operations — ensuring engineers develop the review discipline and repository context that render AI-assisted work reliable.
• Lead, manage, and nurture the PracticeMatch engineering team, encompassing both direct and indirect reports across software engineering and QA functions.
• Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence: establish clear standards for code quality, security, documentation, peer review, and test automation.
• Attract, recruit, and retain top engineering talent; create career paths and development plans that foster growth for engineers at all levels.
• Conduct regular performance discussions; deliver direct, constructive feedback; and address performance issues promptly and fairly in collaboration with HR.
• Promote psychological safety and a team environment where engineers can voice concerns, suggest improvements, and learn from failures.
• Take ownership of engineering delivery — ensuring projects are well-defined, executed reliably, and completed to a quality standard that the team can endorse.
• Maintain and enhance engineering systems — CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment infrastructure, quality gates, and observability — that empower the team to deliver confidently.
• Diagnose complex production incidents; lead root cause analysis and implement lasting solutions.
• Establish and refine the repository context, conventions, and executable plans that facilitate effective agentic coding using tools like Claude Code and Codex.
• Identify engineering tasks that can transition to AI-assisted or automated workflows, ensuring human review remains where it safeguards quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Act as the primary technology partner for PracticeMatch's business and product leadership, translating technical considerations into business terms and vice versa.
• Collaborate with M3 USA's broader technology leadership and other business unit CTOs on shared infrastructure, platforms, and standards.
• Clearly communicate architecture decisions, transformation progress, and engineering health to senior leadership, including the M3 USA CEO and CHRO.
• Work with HR on workforce planning, organizational design, compensation benchmarking, and talent strategy for the engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Active participation in M3 USA's AI training and upskilling initiatives; proven adoption of agentic coding tools.
• Over 12 years of progressive software engineering experience, including substantial time in a hands-on technical role.
• More than 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including direct management of engineering teams.
• Proven experience in leading legacy system modernization or technology platform migration projects.
• Experience in a SaaS, data, or platform product environment; experience in healthcare technology or physician recruiting industry is a plus.
• Expert-level knowledge of web application architecture.
• Strong familiarity with modern web technologies (React or equivalent front-end frameworks, RESTful APIs, cloud infrastructure, containerization).
• Experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, automated test frameworks, and observability systems.
• Practical understanding of application security, data privacy, and compliance requirements for web products.
• Working knowledge of agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or equivalents) and the techniques — repository context, quality gates, review discipline — that ensure their reliability in production engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, and develop engineering talent at various levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting technical information to executive, business, and engineering audiences.
• Familiarity with the physician recruiting or healthcare data domain is an advantage.
