Head of Risk – Fraud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the fraud P&L and provide insights into movements in fraud, payout, chargeback, approval, and false-positive rates throughout the business.

• Build and lead the Risk & Fraud team, cultivating a robust second line of leadership.

• Develop and implement the fraud-reduction strategy across various products.

• Determine which fraud capabilities should be developed in-house versus purchased and identify investment opportunities.

• Manage commercial and strategic partnerships with fraud-prevention vendors, including RFPs, challenger tests, SLAs, and negotiations.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Legal teams to incorporate fraud risk considerations into new initiatives.

• Oversee risk-related regulatory and compliance responsibilities, including PSP requirements, KYC, and law enforcement requests.

• Act as the final escalation point for complex risk-related decisions.

• Represent the Risk & Fraud department in cross-functional and leadership meetings, utilizing data and structured recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in fraud, risk, or financial crime within a fast-paced or high-growth setting.

• Previous experience in team leadership roles.

• Full accountability for fraud outcomes.

• Demonstrated ability to influence fraud rates, chargeback rates, or approval rates through structural changes.

• Experience in partner selection, negotiation, budget management, and SLAs.

• Strong data-driven decision-making skills and proficiency in dashboard usage.

• Familiarity with SQL / Databricks-type environments is highly beneficial.

• Experience in developing leaders and establishing independent teams.

• Ideally, background in digital marketplaces, e-commerce, payments, or gaming.

• Knowledge of promo abuse, reseller fraud, and account takeover issues.

• Comfortable working within regulatory, PSP, and KYC obligations.

• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
