Head of Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all positions, detailing their rationale, exit conditions, and exposures categorized by name, theme, and factor.

• Review positions daily in alignment with the firm's current perspectives and identify any stale, contradictory, or misaligned positions.

• Detect and address unattended positions, remnants of outdated trades, and any drifted exposures.

• Generate exposure and scenario analyses tailored to the firm's trading style.

• Oversee counterparty, financing, and operational exposures across various brokers and platforms.

• Specify the data and insights needed by the risk function for the technology team to develop.

• Compose a succinct daily report summarizing any changes, stale items, and matters requiring a decision.

• Collaborate directly with the principal, trading desk, and technology team.

• Function as an individual contributor, executing tasks hands-on.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar role within a fund, family office, proprietary trading desk, or on the risk management side of a bank.

• Proven track record of managing a robust risk process.

• In-depth understanding of positioning, derivatives, factor exposure, liquidity risk, and counterparty risk.

• Capability to translate discretionary insights into position and exposure assessments.

• Ability to independently define risk processes without relying on an existing limits framework or risk committee.

• Proficiency in specifying and ideally prototyping data and insights using Python, SQL, or spreadsheets.

• Familiarity with modern AI tools for surveillance, synthesis, and reporting, applying a trust-but-verify approach.

• Capacity to operate at the pace of markets alongside trading and technology teams.

• Skill in producing clear, concise, and evidence-based risk communications.

• Ability to work remotely during US market hours.
