This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Create a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, establish product positioning, and set sales objectives for the Medicare group retiree business.
• Recruit, mentor, and guide a team of sales and account management professionals.
• Direct or oversee intricate, high-stakes presentations for consultants and employers, targeting corporate plan sponsors, labor unions, and major consulting firms.
• Collaborate with operations, implementation, product development, and relationship management teams to facilitate smooth client onboarding and ensure long-term client retention.
• Keep track of industry trends, competitive environments, and regulatory updates (including ERISA and DOL guidelines) to adjust sales strategies and refine product offerings.
• Work alongside commercial sales leaders and account executives in market development.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in group health insurance account management, sales, broker activities, product development, underwriting, or benefit consulting, OR 12 years of relevant experience in the same fields.
• Must possess active State Life and Health Insurance licenses or be able to obtain a license within 90 days of starting the role.
• A minimum of 6 years of leadership or management experience is required.
• Exceptional public speaking capabilities, strong executive-level communication, and proficient contract negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and implications, and integrate them into both short-term and long-term organizational plans.
• Strong skills in influencing and negotiation, along with expertise in contracting and networking; a business owner mentality with the ability to lead effectively in a dynamic and uncertain market.
• Demonstrated history of surpassing goals with a focus on bottom-line results; evidence of making sound decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment; high business acumen, including balancing program delivery with budget realities; adept at resource allocation and managing operating expenses while mitigating risk.
• Effective communication skills with executive-level stakeholders and external audiences, complemented by strong interpersonal abilities.
