This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.
• Offer legal counsel and advice on all legal issues pertaining to the Company, including general corporate matters for U.S. entities, such as drafting board and shareholder resolutions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards, and overseeing ongoing legal and financial obligations.
• Draft, assess, and authorize the Company’s legal forms and documentation, which encompass insurance policies, riders and add-ons, underwriting forms, claims forms, codes of conduct, and various internal and external legal documents.
• Evaluate, negotiate, and approve contracts essential to the Company’s operations, particularly focusing on agreements with intermediaries, reinsurers, distributors, service providers, and strategic business partners.
• Represent the Company, or supervise its representation, in legal issues involving senior management, regulators, counterparties, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with, instruct, and manage external counsel, ensuring the appropriate scope, quality of work, cost management, and alignment with the Company’s legal and business strategies.
• Lead the establishment of new legal entities, manage corporate structuring initiatives, and oversee the Company’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks and brand safeguarding.
• Maintain and protect corporate records, including corporate books, resolutions, minutes, and other governance documents.
• Utilize strong knowledge and legal research abilities in insurance-related matters in Latin America, supporting the Company’s regional operations and regulatory strategies.
• Stay informed about and advise the Company on laws and regulations affecting insurance, advertising, data protection, and tax considerations, ensuring timely communication of pertinent legal developments.
• Engage with regulators and address regulatory inquiries, audits, and information requests, coordinating internally and with external advisors as necessary.
• Assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of risk management frameworks, including performing or coordinating routine legal and compliance audits.
• Collaborate with internal teams during the claims process, providing legal oversight and support as needed to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
• An attorney licensed to practice law in the United States is preferred, with experience in Latin America or a JD equivalent qualification to practice law in a Latin American country. An LLM from a U.S. law school is preferred.
• A minimum of 7+ years of relevant legal experience in the insurance sector.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish (both verbal and written) is required. Fluency in Portuguese is an additional advantage.
• A successful background working with a high-growth or scaling company is a plus.
