Head of Health, Safety & Environmental – Living Landscapes Division

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a forward-thinking, integrated Health, Safety, and Environmental strategy within the Living Landscapes Division.

• Provide leadership to the HSE team, which includes two HSE Business Partners, a Training Coordinator, and an Environmental Lead.

• Oversee operations across multiple manufacturing, warehousing, and field sites.

• Serve as a vital member of the divisional leadership team, shaping business planning and operational strategies.

• Create and standardize policies, procedures, and management systems to be applied across all locations.

• Lead regulatory interactions with authorities such as HSE and the Environment Agency.

• Promote continuous improvement through audits and assurance initiatives.

• Develop clear roadmaps, KPIs, and maturity models for HSE and Sustainability.

• Provide strategic oversight for risk assessments and safe working practices.

• Ensure readiness for emergencies, business continuity, and crisis response capabilities.

• Foster a positive culture of safety and sustainability throughout all levels of the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) – mandatory.

• A degree (or equivalent experience) in Health & Safety, Environmental, or a related field.

• Chartered membership of IOSH (or actively pursuing it).

• Substantial experience in a multi-site operational setting (preferred sectors include manufacturing, logistics, or contracting).

• Demonstrated success in leading large-scale HSE strategies.

• Proven ability to drive cultural transformation and behavioral safety initiatives.

• Experience in achieving environmental and sustainability advancements.

• Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety and environmental regulations.

• Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).

• Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks is a plus.
