Head of Group Accounting – m/f/d

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Leadership in Group Accounting and the establishment of the Target Operating Model.

• Provide both functional and disciplinary guidance while further developing Group Accounting.

• Define and execute a comprehensive operating model across the group, outlining structures, responsibilities, and collaboration with local teams.

• Lead the transition from decentralized units to a centralized organization.

• Hold overall accountability for the group’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Ensure the preparation of accounts complies with HGB and IFRS reporting standards.

• Coordinate statutory audits and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.

• Maintain high data quality and uniform reporting standards throughout the group.

• Develop and uphold group-wide accounting policies in accordance with IFRS.

• Guarantee adherence to relevant accounting standards and legal regulations.

• Establish and enhance internal control systems and governance frameworks within accounting.

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting duties within respective entities, working closely with local finance teams, tax advisors, and authorities.

• Oversee and coordinate group-wide tax processes, including corporate tax, VAT, and transfer pricing issues.

• Act as the main contact for tax-related inquiries regarding accounting, reporting, and corporate structure.

• Assist in tax audits and examinations, coordinating with external tax advisors.

• Manage and develop cash management and payment operations.

• Responsible for bank reconciliations, account structures, and payment processes from an accounting viewpoint.

• Collaborate with banks and internal stakeholders on financing-related matters.

• Standardize and enhance closing and reporting processes.

• Improve systems and tools within Group Accounting.

• Ensure efficient and scalable end-to-end processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Economics/Finance or a comparable qualification.

• Several years of experience in external audit (e.g., as a Senior Consultant at one of the Big Four), (group) accounting, or consolidated financial reporting.

• Strong knowledge of HGB and IFRS.

• Experience in collaboration with external auditors.

• Deep understanding of processes, governance, and internal control systems.

• Business-fluent English is essential for an international context.

• Proficient in German language skills.
