Head of Financial Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong.

📋 Description

• Establish and oversee the financial systems strategy and roadmap encompassing ERP, sub-ledgers, reporting, reconciliation, and automation platforms.

• Build, lead, and nurture the Financial Systems team, which includes hiring, performance management, mentoring, and supporting career development.

• Manage team capacity and workload by prioritizing initiatives and balancing operational support with transformation projects.

• Drive end-to-end finance transformation by identifying manual processes, designing automation solutions, and overseeing implementation from prototype to production.

• Own the ERP platform strategy, including integrations, data model, customizations, and upgrade pathways.

• Advocate for AI and automation adoption within finance, including LLM-powered workflows, RPA, copilots, anomaly detection, and automated journal-entry generation.

• Create and maintain scalable data pipelines connecting finance systems, data warehouses, and BI tools.

• Collaborate with Finance leadership to translate business requirements into technical solutions and connect accounting operations with engineering.

• Ensure system controls, audit readiness, and data integrity across financial platforms while meeting SOX/compliance requirements.

• Develop a self-service toolkit utilizing Python, SQL, VBA, low-code platforms, and AI assistants.

• Manage vendor relationships and assess build-versus-buy decisions.

• Oversee UAT governance and release management for changes to financial systems.

• Report to finance and senior leadership on the progress of transformation initiatives, automation metrics, and system health.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12–15+ years of experience in finance operations, systems, and technology leadership, ideally within FinTech, Financial Services, or a fast-paced tech environment.

• Extensive ERP expertise (NetSuite, SAP, or Workday), including integrations, data migrations, and platform strategy.

• Proven success in leading finance transformation programs, including automation, system consolidations, or greenfield platform implementations.

• A hands-on builder mindset with proficiency in Python, SQL, and/or VBA; comfortable with prototyping solutions directly.

• Demonstrated experience in deploying AI/ML or RPA within production finance environments (e.g., journal entry automation, reconciliation, anomaly detection, reporting).

• Experience in building and leading lean, high-output teams, including hiring, performance management, and talent development in resource-constrained settings.

• Strong comprehension of internal controls, SOX/compliance, and audit requirements for financial systems.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence CFO-level leadership and collaborate effectively with engineering counterparts.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change; proactive in taking action and building rather than merely planning and delegating.
