Head of Finance – Russian Speaker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• **Role Purpose**

• The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting functions of the company. This position is operational in nature, with a main focus on precise reporting, systematic budgeting, and financial oversight within a capital-intensive business.

• **Key Responsibilities**

• - Financial reporting. Take charge of the preparation and accuracy of the P&L, cash flow statement, and balance sheet. Ensure the monthly close is conducted on time and that the reporting package is consistent, reconciled, and suitable for management use.

• - Inventory and fleet accounting. Manage the recording and representation of inventory and fixed assets in the financial statements. This entails maintaining and enhancing the capitalization and depreciation policies for bikes, batteries, and spare parts, overseeing the fixed asset register, accounting for disposals and write-offs, and reconciling operational inventory records with the general ledger.

• - Budgeting and financial modeling. Sustain the company's financial model for internal planning. Collaborate with department heads to construct the annual and quarterly budgets, monitor actual performance against the plan, and report variances with suggested corrective measures.

• - Financial control. Develop the financial control function encompassing approval and authorization protocols, expenditure controls, segregation of duties, and routine checks on cash, receivables, and payables.

• - Team and external partnerships. Supervise in-house accountants and the outsourced accounting firm, clarify the division of tasks between them, and ensure adherence to established deadlines and quality benchmarks.

• - Compliance and operations. Oversee payroll, multi-state tax registrations and submissions, statutory reporting, and preparation for audits. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and payment processing operations.

• - Cross-functional Collaboration. The Head of Finance collaborates directly with operations, supply chain, and product teams on initiatives such as pricing adjustments, new city launches, vendor agreements, warehouse and inventory processes, and modifications to payment systems. This role is expected to recognize and address the financial and accounting implications of these initiatives during the design phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• - A minimum of 7 years in accounting and finance, including experience leading a full monthly close as a Controller, Head of Finance, or a similar role.

• - Familiarity with the US market.

• - Experience in inventory and fixed asset accounting within a physical business environment.

• - Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax compliance.

• - Proven experience managing accounting personnel and outsourced providers.

• - Background in a company where processes were developed from scratch rather than simply maintained.

• - Strong systems expertise, including accounting system implementation or migration experience.
