Head of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain daily finance dashboards and real-time cash flow models that encompass revenue, expenditures, cash position, contribution margin, purchase order schedules, debt, and advertising expenses.

• Take ownership of both company-wide and channel-specific profit and loss statements, ensuring accurate categorization and reporting of manufacturing, freight, fulfillment, creator, contractor, and operating expenses.

• Oversee the month-end closing process within QuickBooks Online and supervise outsourced bookkeeping partners.

• Manage banking and cash operations, which include account reconciliation, vendor payments, wire transfers, payment methods, and banking relationships.

• Handle payroll using Gusto or a similar platform, covering employee onboarding, salary adjustments, off-cycle payroll, and worker classification.

• Identify, negotiate, and manage credit facilities and financing alternatives.

• Create financial forecasts and scenarios related to inventory purchasing, advertising investments, financing decisions, and working capital management.

• Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams regarding purchase order deposits, supplier payment terms, freight expenses, landed cost of goods sold, inventory acquisitions, and product margins.

• Oversee sales tax, contractor invoicing, accrual accounting, and other compliance-related finance requirements.

• Ensure that financial records, projections, and supporting documentation are ready for investors and due diligence processes.

• Deliver actionable financial insights to leadership and address urgent cash flow, payment, or financing challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant finance experience, with practical experience in scaling a DTC/ecommerce brand.

• Proven track record in managing finance for a growing ecommerce business, ideally increasing revenue from around $10M–$20M to $50M+ or operating within a company generating over $100M.

• Strong grasp of ecommerce unit economics, including contribution margin, MER versus ROAS, blended customer acquisition cost, inventory turnover, and cash conversion cycle.

• Hands-on experience with inventory-centric ecommerce businesses that involve overseas suppliers, purchase orders, supplier deposits, freight logistics, and landed COGS.

• Experience managing finance for a U.S.-based company, including W-2 and W-9/1099 classifications and U.S. sales tax regulations.

• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and familiar with platforms such as Shopify, Gusto, payment processors, and DTC financing solutions.

• Experience overseeing outsourced bookkeeping teams and managing month-end closures.

• Strong skills in financial modeling, forecasting, cash flow management, and scenario planning.

• Highly proactive and comfortable taking direct ownership of critical finance responsibilities.

• Quick to respond and adept at addressing urgent financial matters.

• Available full-time without other clients or side projects, ensuring that the client is the sole professional focus.

• Capable of providing at least 5 hours of overlap with the hours of 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PST.

• Excellent English communication skills, both fluent and professional.

• Experience in preparing a business for fundraising, acquisitions, or financial diligence is advantageous.
