This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Drive outcomes for the Marketplace.
• Collaborate with the Head of Product to establish clear, outcome-oriented goals. Assist teams in exploring problem areas, utilizing engineering judgment to formulate practical solutions, making timely decisions that shorten feedback loops, enhance speed to market, increase customer and venue value, and deliver quantifiable business results.
• Set the technical strategy for the Marketplace domain alongside architects and engineers. Utilize guilds as the main tool to influence and expand technical direction and practices, elevating standards for reliability, maintainability, performance, and security, enabling teams to operate swiftly with assurance. Promote consistency among Marketplace teams and alignment with other domains through shared principles, guardrails, and learning opportunities.
• Intentionally develop engineering managers and senior individual contributors within the Marketplace. Ensure teams are strategically planned and staffed with the necessary skills for effective delivery today and as the area's needs change. Oversee hiring, succession planning, and talent growth for the area while mentoring leaders to become effective people managers, technical decision-makers, and area-level owners who facilitate team progress.
• Eliminate organizational and technical obstacles that hinder Marketplace teams, reduce toil, and enhance everyday delivery. Collaborate closely with Platform to advance shared foundations for CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence. Promote responsible use of AI tools to boost productivity and shorten feedback loops while enhancing quality, security, and incident management, allowing teams to deliver and operate confidently.
• Advocate for inclusivity, transparency, and continuous improvement across Product, Design, and Engineering as equal partners in delivery. Reinforce shared values and methodologies, ensuring consistency across Product Engineering while enabling Marketplace teams to collaborate efficiently and swiftly.
• Assist teams in concentrating on immediate tasks, shaping future objectives, and establishing clear ambitions for the long term within their domains. Collaborate closely with executive sponsors on company goals to translate strategy into specific area-level priorities. Provide teams with the clarity and protection necessary to remain focused, balancing business requirements with technical and team well-being, and aid teams in navigating trade-offs while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Foster robust, trust-based collaboration across Treatwell so that the Marketplace area functions as a crucial part of a product-led organization. Work in tandem with Commercial, Customer Support, and Group Functions to collectively shape priorities, identify trade-offs early, and resolve shared challenges. Empower teams to concentrate on what is important, accelerate their pace, and deliver value end-to-end for customers and venues.
• You are a seasoned leader of leaders, guiding multiple teams and finding genuine satisfaction in mentoring engineering managers and team leads to achieve their full potential.
• You are confident and efficient in aligning priorities, clearly communicating trade-offs, and assisting teams in navigating complex cross-company scenarios.
• You excel in environments where you balance execution, strategy, and people leadership, building sustainable processes and fostering healthy team dynamics.
• You are comfortable shaping technical direction at a high level, enhancing scalability, reliability, and developer experience while empowering engineering managers and engineers to handle execution details.
• You are skilled at bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, cultivating trust-based relationships across the organization.
• You are a strategic thinker who balances pragmatism with ambition, taking pride in witnessing your teams succeed and scale beyond your direct influence.
• You are fluent in English, and proficiency in any other European language is a plus.
• You are located in any city in the UK or Spain, with the legal right to work in either location. We do not accept applicants based outside of these locations.
