This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania, +1 more state.
• Develop and implement a long-term technology strategy that systematically upgrades PracticeMatch's legacy systems, prioritizing migrations and rewrites based on business value, risk, and continuity.
• Collaborate with product and business leadership to ensure engineering objectives are in line with PracticeMatch's competitive strategy and customer outcomes.
• Create a practical, phased strategy for system transformation that maintains product stability and fulfills customer commitments while progressing towards a modern, maintainable architecture.
• Assess and propose modern technology solutions (languages, frameworks, cloud infrastructure, data platforms) that prepare PracticeMatch for sustainable growth.
• Advocate for the responsible integration of agentic AI throughout the engineering lifecycle — from planning and design to development, testing, deployment, and production — ensuring engineers cultivate the review discipline and repository context necessary for reliable AI-assisted work.
• Direct, manage, and nurture the PracticeMatch engineering team, encompassing both direct and indirect reports across software engineering and QA functions.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence with clear standards for code quality, security, documentation, peer review, and test automation.
• Attract, recruit, and retain exceptional engineering talent; establish career pathways and development plans that nurture engineers at all levels.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations; provide constructive feedback; and address performance issues promptly and equitably in collaboration with HR.
• Promote psychological safety and a team environment where engineers can voice concerns, suggest improvements, and learn from setbacks.
• Take ownership of engineering delivery — ensuring projects are well-scoped, reliably executed, and completed to a quality standard the team supports.
• Enhance and maintain engineering systems — CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment infrastructure, quality gates, and observability — that empower the team to deploy with confidence.
• Resolve complex production incidents; lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
• Develop and refine repository context, conventions, and actionable plans that facilitate effective agentic coding with tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
• Identify engineering tasks suitable for AI-assisted or automated workflows, ensuring human review remains in place to uphold quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Act as the primary technology liaison to PracticeMatch's business and product leadership, translating technical considerations into business terms and aligning engineering plans with business priorities.
• Collaborate with M3 USA's broader technology leadership and other business unit CTOs on shared infrastructure, platforms, and standards.
• Clearly communicate architecture decisions, transformation updates, and engineering health to senior leadership, including the M3 USA CEO and CHRO.
• Partner with HR on workforce planning, organizational design, compensation benchmarking, and talent strategies for the engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Active participation in M3 USA's AI training and upskilling initiatives; proven use of agentic coding tools.
• Over 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including substantial time in a hands-on technical position.
• More than 5 years of engineering leadership experience, with direct management of engineering teams.
• Proven experience in leading legacy system modernization or technology platform migration projects.
• Background in a SaaS, data, or platform product environment; experience in healthcare technology or physician recruiting is a plus.
• Expert understanding of web application architecture.
• Strong familiarity with modern web technologies (React or similar front-end frameworks, RESTful APIs, cloud infrastructure, containerization).
• Experience in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and observability systems.
• Practical knowledge of application security, data privacy, and compliance requirements associated with web products.
• Working knowledge of agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) and the techniques — repository context, quality gates, review discipline — that ensure their reliability in production engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, and foster development of engineering talent at various levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of conveying technical information to executive, business, and engineering audiences.
• Familiarity with the physician recruiting or healthcare data field is advantageous.
