Head of Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish a unique design philosophy and product vision for OpenClaw.

• Oversee the development of zero-to-one products from initial concept through prototyping, implementation, and launch.

• Create and refine shared components, design tokens, interaction patterns, and visual standards.

• Develop innovative interaction paradigms for delegation, memory, permissions, identity, trust, and human-agent collaboration.

• Take the lead in product design, visual exploration, prototyping, and implementation specifics.

• Collaborate with Foundation leadership, researchers, and engineers to uncover opportunities and deliver products.

• Set principles and reusable tools that empower contributors and third-party developers to create consistent experiences.

• Demonstrated success in building and launching outstanding zero-to-one products, with clear ownership from initial concept to launch.

• Exceptional design sensibility, visual craftsmanship, and a strong perspective on the future of software and human-computer interaction.

• Extensive expertise in design systems, including the development of scalable component libraries, interaction patterns, and visual languages from scratch.

• Ability to integrate strategic vision with hands-on execution, transitioning between product direction, rapid prototyping, and detailed pixel work.

• Strong skills in interaction design and systems thinking.

• Technical proficiency and close collaboration with engineering teams to deliver polished, production-ready products.

• Comfort navigating ambiguous, fast-paced environments and influencing direction without extensive teams or rigid processes.

• An impressive portfolio showcasing product impact, design excellence, and comprehensive ownership.

• Experience in designing AI-native products, autonomous agents, assistants, or new interaction models.

• Background in building developer tools, technical platforms, or infrastructure products.

• Contributions to open source projects or experience designing for distributed communities.

• Familiarity with agent identity, permissions, privacy, security, or interoperability.

• Experience in front-end development or code-based prototyping.

• Eligibility to work legally in the US; the application includes questions about current or future US visa sponsorship.
