Head of Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete Mesh experience across both the consumer application and merchant interfaces, focusing on first impressions, error states, recovery processes, and support handoffs.

• Tackle intricate experience challenges directly, addressing mental models, standardization, customization, shipping decisions, deposits, swaps, bridging, fiat on-ramps, and failure recovery.

• Serve as the decisive authority on experience-related questions, dedicating approximately half of your time to design tasks.

• Oversee, mentor, and develop existing designers while also recruiting as the team expands.

• Establish high standards for design talent at Mesh.

• Transform design tools, workflows, and the equilibrium of prototypes versus specifications for the AI era.

• Advocate for design in executive-level discussions regarding roadmaps and customer strategies alongside the CEO, CTO, and SVP of Product.

• Provide evidence-based insights to inform strategic decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years in product design.

• At least 3 years of experience leading designers while remaining actively involved in hands-on work.

• Proven experience in launching consumer products at scale, with a portfolio showcasing your work.

• Demonstrated history of designing complex, high-stakes systems where users are significantly impacted by failures, such as in finance, healthcare, or infrastructure.

• Strong ability to think in first principles and develop conceptual models from the ground up.

• Experience in shifting roadmap directions through persuasive design arguments in discussions with executive and engineering leaders.

• Proficient use of AI in design practices and a readiness to rethink traditional design methodologies.

• Exceptional design skills are essential.

• Experience in payments or fintech is advantageous but not mandatory.
