Head of Commercial Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate Finance Business Partners, Bid Modellers, and senior finance team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.

• Provide strategic guidance and challenge on significant bids, rebids, contract extensions, and commercial opportunities.

• Enhance management reporting, month-end processes, and group consolidation activities.

• Collaborate with Commercial, Contracts, BI, and Data teams to convert commercial drivers into financial performance and insights.

• Identify opportunities to boost operational efficiency, cut costs, and increase value across the Group.

• Oversee budget, forecasting, and cash flow reporting processes, ensuring financial information is accurate and delivered on time.

• Present commercial and financial performance, along with associated risks and opportunities, to stakeholders at the Board level.

• Contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing enhancement of the Finance function as part of the Finance Leadership Team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience.

• Demonstrated experience in a senior commercial finance leadership role within a complex, multi-entity context.

• Strong expertise in bid finance, commercial modeling, and business partnering.

• Outstanding people leadership abilities, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.

• Robust financial modeling, analytical, and commercial decision-making skills.

• Experience in influencing and presenting to senior and Board-level stakeholders.

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration capabilities.

• Proven experience in driving process improvements, automation, and finance efficiencies.

• Desirable: Experience with government-funded contracts, public sector tenders, or outsourced service delivery.

• Desirable: Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, or similar reporting tools.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, including compliance with the Prevent Duty and the positive promotion of modern British values.

• May be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role.
