This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of the component-level architecture for Flui's AWS cloud portfolio, utilizing both AWS-native services and open-source/self-managed components.
• Manage and continuously enhance the platforms that support MarketFlow, MeterFlow, and the DCC adapter.
• Hold direct responsibility for ensuring resilience, performance, and scalability for national-scale transaction volumes.
• Develop and uphold disaster recovery, high-availability, and capacity planning strategies.
• Oversee FinOps, which includes cost visibility, forecasting, tagging, allocation, and ongoing cost optimization.
• Manage the cloud security posture, focusing on IAM, network security, encryption, and vulnerability and patch management.
• Ensure compliance with Flui's ISO/IEC 27001 ISMS and broader compliance requirements.
• Define and uphold non-functional standards related to resilience, performance, scalability, and observability.
• Design, construct, and personally implement infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and platform tooling.
• Take charge of incident management, on-call practices, root-cause analysis, and the continual enhancement of SRE methodologies.
• Make informed decisions between build-vs-buy and AWS-native-vs-open-source options.
• Manage essential vendor and technical relationships, including those with AWS and platform-tooling providers.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership on cloud architecture, planning, and time-to-market strategies.
• Recruit and nurture a small platform engineering team.
• Promote knowledge sharing, document architectural decisions and standards, facilitate internal sessions, and mentor engineers.
• Proven experience managing cloud platforms in a regulated, high-availability, or critical-infrastructure environment.
• Extensive, hands-on expertise in AWS, covering compute, storage, networking, data, and security services.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and operating cloud-native platforms that integrate AWS-native services with open-source components like Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar tools.
• A successful track record in managing a FinOps practice and achieving measurable, sustained cloud cost reductions.
• Strong background in cloud security, particularly in IAM, encryption, and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001.
• Experience in defining and achieving non-functional requirements, including high availability, disaster recovery, performance/load testing, and scalability at production levels.
• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
• Well-versed in mature CI/CD practices.
• Comfortable with hands-on daily operations while overseeing strategy, standards, and team development.
• Proven history of knowledge sharing and enhancing technical capabilities through documentation, mentoring, or internal training initiatives.
• Willing to participate in on-call/incident response as required.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous, or equivalent practical experience.
• Current AWS certification(s) are highly preferred.
