This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Collaborate with software and FPGA engineers to develop system and board-level architectural designs while analyzing requirements.
• Provide schematic design and select components for high-speed circuits, including SerDes up to 32Gbps, control circuits, power supply sequencing, inter-board connectors, and memory buses.
• Conduct design simulations with LTSpice and validate circuits through prototype bench testing.
• Collaborate with the Signal Integrity team to perform thorough analyses of critical nets.
• Engage in design reviews (Signal Integrity, PCB Layout, FPGA coding, Software) to uphold Fidus quality standards.
• Create parts libraries and perform schematic capture, including embedded layout constraints, utilizing OrCAD Capture CIS.
• Develop detailed test plans and procedures.
• Facilitate lab bring-up and thorough verification of hardware prototypes.
• Work closely with the team to resolve hardware and software integration challenges.
• Lead regulatory certification testing initiatives.
• Produce technical and user documentation.
• Offer pre-project technical support to business and sales teams regarding project scope, schedules, effort estimates, and deliverables, as well as post-project technical support to customers.
• Serve as a mentor and sounding board for junior and intermediate electronic designers.
• At least 5 years of direct experience in electronics design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Capability to lead design efforts both technically and as a mentor.
• Strong foundational knowledge of high-speed circuit and multi-layer PCB design.
• Comprehensive understanding of all phases of the hardware product development cycle, including requirements, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, signal integrity, verification, and manufacturing.
• Experience in FPGA designs, particularly with 32Gbps differential pairs and power/thermal design considerations.
• Familiarity with high-speed devices and protocols such as DDR4, PCIe Gen4, MIPI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI, SerDes, and JESD204B.
• Proficient with development tools like Cadence CIS/Orcad/Cadence Allegro.
• Experience with optical test sets, signal analyzers, and GHz+ oscilloscopes for analyzing eye diagrams, phase noise, and overall signal integrity.
• Practical debugging experience with scopes, VNAs, signal generators, and electronic loads.
• Knowledge of ESD, EMI, and RF design considerations.
• Proficiency in using Verilog, RTL, or HLS is an asset.
