This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop visual concepts either by hand or through digital applications to convey ideas that inform, inspire, and engage stakeholders across as many as six simultaneous healthcare pilots.
• Create layouts and produce communication materials such as social media graphics, press release support documents, one-pagers, briefing decks, dashboards, outreach materials, and toolkits.
• Gain a thorough understanding of the VHA environment, SPD/CCPI programs, the portfolio and pilot landscape, target audiences, and communication objectives.
• Design both recurring and ad hoc communication products in support of Communications Product Release Management.
• Assist in compiling weekly briefing decks, providing weekly team updates, preparing monthly All Hands materials, and refreshing monthly outreach materials.
• Convert complex program, portfolio, and pilot status data into dashboards, infographics, and briefing materials tailored for SES, governance-board, and Congressional audiences.
• Create high-quality materials for guiding coalition meetings, Community of Practice resources, and training/knowledge-management guides.
• Offer design and layout assistance for the Portfolio Management Dashboard, Monthly Progress Reports, and Monthly Pilot Performance Reports.
• Evaluate visual and electronic deliverables to ensure compliance with Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards.
• Adhere to Executive-Ready Standards, which include achieving zero-defect quality, maintaining a consistent voice and terminology, and conducting internal quality-control reviews.
• Collaborate with the Technical Writer/Editor and Senior Stakeholder Engagement & Communications Specialist to refine messaging and enhance stakeholder communications.
• Uphold SPD/CCPI and VA branding, template, and style guidelines while ensuring contractor branding is excluded from Government deliverables.
• Manage competing priorities and deadlines across various pilots and communication workstreams.
• Address urgent COR requests within a 24-hour response timeframe.
• A Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in creating visual concepts either manually or through computer applications.
• Proven experience in developing layouts and producing advertisements, presentations, one-pagers, and similar communication products.
• A portfolio of work is required.
• Experience in ensuring that electronic and information technology deliverables meet Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards.
• Proficient in industry-standard design software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite.
• Demonstrated experience in producing communication products for federal or federal-healthcare clients.
• Capability to meet the requirements for a Low Risk (Tier 1) background investigation; no security clearance is necessary.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Desired: Previous experience in VA, VHA, or federal healthcare communications.
• Desired: Familiarity with standards for Congressional-facing or SES-level briefing materials.
• Desired: Experience in creating data-driven dashboards, infographics, or visual reporting products.
• Desired: Strong critical thinking, analytical, and time-management skills; ability to handle multiple concurrent design requests.
• Desired: Proficiency in quickly implementing Government reviewer feedback within established review cycles.
• Desired: Comfort in operating within a non-personal-services contract environment with COR-directed priorities and fluctuating pilot workloads.
